Sugar Water Density Experiment

post-image1Required Materials:

  1. Clear glass or Jumbo Test Tube
  2. Syringe or droppers
  3. Sugar
  4. Measuring spoon
  5. Food coloring or True Color Tablets
  6. Four small cups

post-image2Density is defined as mass divided by volume. As you add sugar to the water, more and more sugar molecules will take over the space, making the water denser. The cup containing the 8 tablespoons of sugar will be the densest, the cup with 2 tablespoons will be least dense.
